ABC Companies has appointed John Walsh as Chief Commercial Officer, with responsibility for vehicle sales, business development, customer engagement and strategic partnerships.
The US company announced the appointment on 21 August 2026. Walsh joins the executive leadership team with more than three decades of experience across the transportation, transit, commercial vehicle and bus sectors, according to ABC Companies.
In his new position, Walsh will lead ABC Companies’ commercial strategy and oversee its vehicle sales, business development, customer engagement and strategic partnership activities.
John Walsh joins ABC Companies as Chief Commercial Officer
ABC Companies is a US-based distributor and service provider for motorcoaches, transit buses, shuttles and passenger vans, offering new and pre-owned vehicles as well as parts, maintenance and fleet support. The family-owned company, founded in 1972, is the exclusive US and Canadian distributor of Van Hool motorcoaches, since 2024 taken over by VDL group.
Walsh’s previous executive positions include Chief Commercial Officer at Proterra, where he previously served as Senior Vice President of Sales, and President and Chief Commercial Officer at EO Charging. More recently, he was President of PhoenixEV from August 2025 to April 2026.
His experience in the bus and mobility industry dates back to 1989 and includes a long tenure at National Bus Sales, where he progressed through sales and executive positions before serving as President and CEO of National Bus from 2006 to 2012. His subsequent roles included CEO of VPG Autos, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at ARBOC Specialty Vehicles, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the MV-1 at AM General, President at REV Group and President/COO of Davey Coach Sales.
Across these positions, Walsh has worked in vehicle sales and distribution, transit and mobility vehicles, alternative-fuel buses, accessible transportation and electric commercial vehicles.
ABC Companies puts Walsh in charge of commercial strategy
As Chief Commercial Officer, Walsh will be responsible for coordinating ABC Companies’ commercial activities across vehicle sales and business development, as well as its relationships with customers and strategic partners.
ABC Companies says the appointment forms part of its executive leadership structure as the company pursues its growth strategy and commercial activities. The company also cited customer support, service and operational activities among the areas forming its current business framework.
