The provinces Overijssel, Gelderland and Flevoland have awarded the public transport concession IJssel-Vecht to EBS. This news is reported on the on specialized Dutch media PV Magazine.

EBS will start in IJssel-Vecht in December 2022. Keolis is currently operating an emergency concession after the provinces withdrew the concession from the company following ‘rigged’ orders for 259 BYD buses (from those buses, by the way, some issues rose). Also Qbuzz was bidding for the concession.

EBS to operate IJssel-Vecht concession by end 2022

IJssel-Vecht is a concession in the provinces of Flevoland, Gelderland and Overijssel in which (parts of) several (former) concessions have been combined.  Small parts of the concession are currently served by Arriva (Lelystad) and Connexxion (IJsselmond), and they will not be added to the concession until December 2023, PV Magazine points out.

“IJssel-Vecht is a very beautiful region that we like to serve” says general manager Wilko Mol. “The fact that, on the basis of our bid, the provinces have called us ‘a transport company with a clear vision and strategy for the development of public transport’ is very satisfying. We will now work together to ensure a smooth transition. We wish all new employees and passengers a warm welcome!”.
