Keolis has secured two contracts from Danish public transport authority Sydtrafik to operate fully electric bus networks in the South Jutland region.

The contracts cover the operation of two public transport networks based exclusively on battery-electric buses and have a combined value of approximately €146 million. The awards mark Keolis’ return to South Jutland and expand the group’s electric bus operations in Denmark.

According to Keolis, the two contracts involve a total fleet of 30 electric buses and long-term operating agreements extending over a decade. The contracts were announced by the operator on 3 June 2026.

Two electric bus contracts awarded by Sydtrafik

The first contract, referred to as Sydtrafik-21, will begin in June 2026. It has an initial duration of ten years, with an option for two additional years. The contract covers the operation of 15 electric buses and approximately 33,300 annual commercial service hours. Estimated contract revenue amounts to €59 million.

The second agreement, Sydtrafik-22, is scheduled to enter service in June 2027. The contract also includes 15 battery-electric buses and has a ten-year base period, complemented by two extension options of two years each. Operations under this contract are expected to total approximately 48,800 annual commercial hours, with estimated revenue of €87 million.

Together, the two contracts represent around 82,100 annual commercial hours operated with electric buses across the South Jutland network.

“These two contracts demonstrate the confidence of Danish authorities in our expertise in delivering sustainable and high-performing mobility. They represent an important milestone marking our return to the South Jutland region. We are committed to supporting the region in its transition to low-emission public transport, by operating reliable services tailored to the needs of residents and our client Sydtrafik”, states Jan Kilström, Chief Executive Officer Continental Europe at Keolis Group
