The first 12-metre electric buses in the history of Rome have been presented today. They are the first units in a supply of 411 e-buses by Iveco Bus (awarded at the beginning of 2024) that are expected to be in circulation by 2026 on the capital’s roads. 110 will arrive by the end of 2024, in compliance with the Next Generation EU milestones.

Electric buses in Rome, the first delivery

The first eight e-buses, presented today, will enter into service on 20 January, while the entire delivery will be completed by April 2026.

The Councillor for Mobility Eugenio Patanè gave the news on Linkedin: “Thanks to the 411 electric buses and the more than 1,100 new vehicles that we will put into service by 2026, in Rome we will have a fleet with an average age of just over 5 years, i.e. among the lowest in Europe, and with advanced systems such as Tap&Go, which is continuing to be extraordinarily successful’.

Welcoming them were the Mayor, Roberto Gualtieri, the President of the Mobility Commission, Giovanni Zannola, the Councillor for Mobility of the II Municipality, Valentina Caracciolo, and representatives of the dealer Iveco-Romana Diesel, which was entrusted with the tender for the supply of 411 full electric buses.
