Chinese battery manufacturer (and Ebusco’s shareholder) Gotion has released plans to build two battery factories in Slovakia and Morocco. The group is backed by Volkswagen. Investment? $2.6 billion, 1.2 will be headed to the Slovakian plant, where annual capacity should be up to 20 GWh, according to trade media CNEVpost.

Gotion battery plants coming in Slovakia and Morocco

Being more specific, the Slovakian plant will be built by Gotion InoBat Batteries (GIB) EnergyX Slovakia, which is 80 percent owned by Gotion and the other 20 percent by local battery company InoBat. Gotion acquired a 25 percent stake in InoBat last September. It should be in operation within 3 years in order to begin production in January 2027, then reaching full capacity as of June 2027.

China Daily underlines that Gotion “ranked as the world’s eighth-largest EV battery producer with a 2.6 percent market share in the first ten months of this year”, quoting the South Korean market tracker SNE Research.
