Irizar e-mobility’s electric buses are also arriving in the Netherlands. A historic milestone for the Basque manufacturer, which for the first time in its history will deliver a total of 39 ie tram models to the operator Arriva Personenvervoer Netherlands: eighteen 12-metre units and twenty-one 18-metre articulated buses. The vehicles will enter service in several cities across the Oost-Brabant region and will operate on a high-capacity BRT line. Delivery is scheduled for December 2026.

The zero-emission vehicles are equipped with Irizar batteries with a capacity of over 615 kWh and will be charged at the depot using a Combo 2 system. They are also fitted with both an electric and a manual ramp to ensure improved accessibility. In addition, the operator has selected interurban-style seats, providing greater comfort for passengers.

As a special feature, the driver’s seat will include a personalised position memory, allowing the configuration to be automatically adjusted for each driver, enhancing comfort and ergonomics while driving.

We would like to thank Arriva for putting their trust in us. This order is very important for us. Because it means including a new country in our portfolio and continuing to broaden and expand our electromobility solutions. We’re looking forward to seeing the new buses on the road in the Oost-Brabant region and watching residents enjoy the experience of travelling in the Irizar ie trams“, commented Global Sales Director of Irizar e-mobility José Antonio Sola.

“We are thrilled with these beautiful buses. They perfectly meet the needs for the busy, high-frequency city lines in Tilburg and ‘s-Hertogenbosch. Plenty of light, plenty of space, the ability to board quickly, and a distinctive, futuristic design. We have high expectations for these vehicles and look forward to putting them into service in December“, says Jan Pieter Been, Regional Director South at Arriva Netherlands.
