Italian bus manufacturer Menarini is structuring a stable presence across European markets while preparing a new electric bus launch and advancing a Class II battery-electric project.

The developments, reported by Italian trade media and our sister media Autobusweb, outline a phase of industrial consolidation and product expansion for the Italian manufacturer following a year of increased production volumes and export activity. Menarini, former Industria Italiana Autobus, was acquired by Seri Industrial in 2024.

We are no longer focusing on ‘spot’ participation in individual foreign tenders, but are structuring ourselves to be permanently present on the continental market. The sales network is expanding with direct entries in target markets. It is no longer about following occasional opportunities, but about continuously covering territories, especially Germany, France and Eastern Europe.

Menarini to cover German, French and Eastern European markets

In 2025 Menarini delivered nearly 400 buses, with 152 units registered on the Italian market and a substantial share of production allocated to export activities, including a 200-unit CNG Citymood supply for Athens, as reported by Italian trade media and our sister media Autobusweb. The company’s manufacturing output reflects a recovery in industrial capacity at the Flumeri site.

Within this framework, Menarini is reorganizing its commercial strategy toward foreign markets, moving away from participation in single tenders toward a structured presence across Europe. The business expansion abroad was outlined also in parent company Seri Industrial’s results 2025.

As Andrea Lamonaca, Head of Sales, Program & Customer Relations, told Autobusweb, “We are no longer focusing on ‘spot’ participation in individual foreign tenders, but are structuring ourselves to be permanently present on the continental market.” He adds that “the sales network is expanding with direct entries in target markets,” specifying that “it is no longer about following occasional opportunities, but about continuously covering territories, especially Germany, France and Eastern Europe.”

New electric bus developments to be unveiled in Milan

At the upcoming Next Mobility Exhibition in Milan, the manufacturer will introduce updates to its electric product line, including new models and technical evolutions of existing vehicles. The scope of intervention involves both components and onboard technologies.

Lamonaca states: “In Milan we will bring several important innovations,” adding that “there will be an expansion of the electric range, with new models and evolutionary updates on existing ones.” He specifies that “it is not only about aesthetics or marginal updates: we are working on components and technologies to concretely improve the product.

The company is extending its electric offering across multiple segments, while maintaining gas-powered solutions, including CNG and LNG, within its portfolio.

Class II electric bus project underway at Menarini!

Menarini confirms that a Class II battery-electric vehicle is under development, extending its product range beyond urban applications toward intercity operations. The project reflects ongoing activities in segments where electric propulsion is being deployed alongside infrastructure development.

Lamonaca confirms: “Yes, it is an area and a product we are working on, obviously battery-electric,” adding that “historically we have been very focused on urban buses.” He also notes that “electric technology for Class II is now more mature and infrastructure is growing.”
