Quantron establishes China joint venture with HyperView, new zero-emission bus and truck platform due in 2027

Quantron has established a new joint venture in China with autonomous driving specialist HyperView, with a new platform for battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell buses and trucks among the projects planned.

The new company, Quantron China, is headquartered in Shaoxing, China, with Foxconn selected as industrial manufacturing partner. According to the companies, the venture will combine German vehicle engineering and integration expertise with Chinese manufacturing, autonomous driving technologies and supply chains, addressing markets in China, Europe and the Middle East.

The project includes the development of a new vehicle architecture designed to cover both zero-emission buses and trucks, with battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell powertrains. Quantron China says the platform will also integrate software, connectivity and automated driving technologies.

The new venture comes after the restructuring of the Quantron business under Andreas Haller Holding. In April 2025, Andreas Haller Holding acquired the relevant assets of Quantron AG through an asset deal and retained 35 employees. The former Quantron AG had also been active in the bus market, notably with the 12-metre Cizaris electric bus launched in 2022.

In January 2026, Haller Group subsequently integrated Quantron and retrofit specialist Pepper into a broader zero-emission commercial vehicle structure, covering new battery-electric and hydrogen buses and trucks as well as the conversion of existing commercial vehicle fleets.

Quantron China to develop Gen2 platform for buses and trucks

At the centre of the new Sino-European venture is the Quantron Gen2 platform, conceived as the basis for a new generation of zero-emission commercial vehicles, including buses.

The architecture is intended to accommodate both battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell powertrains and to integrate software, connectivity and automated driving functions. According to the partners, Quantron will contribute vehicle engineering, integration and zero-emission commercial vehicle expertise, while HyperView will provide autonomous driving and intelligent vehicle technologies.

Foxconn has been selected as industrial manufacturing partner, contributing manufacturing and supply-chain capabilities to the future vehicle programme.

The partners expect the first complete vehicle based on the Gen2 platform to make its public debut in the first half of 2027. No details have yet been provided on whether the first vehicle will be a bus or a truck, nor on the dimensions, passenger capacity or technical specifications of future bus applications.

Before the Gen2 vehicle debut, Quantron China is targeting the deployment of a validation fleet of 100 zero-emission commercial vehicles with European customers by the end of 2026. The companies have not disclosed the split between buses and trucks within this fleet.

China venture targets Europe, China and Middle East

Although headquartered in Shaoxing, Quantron China has been established with an international scope. According to the companies, the venture plans to address customers in Europe, China and the Middle East.

Its activities are intended to cover vehicle development and industrialisation as well as software, autonomous driving technologies and manufacturing. The programme encompasses both battery-electric and fuel cell commercial vehicles.

The partners have set a long-term target of supporting more than 100,000 zero-emission commercial vehicles worldwide over the next ten years. The figure is presented by the companies as a target and does not represent confirmed orders or production volumes.

For the bus segment, the information released so far confirms that buses form part of the Gen2 vehicle architecture and of Quantron China’s zero-emission commercial vehicle scope. Specific bus models, production schedules and technical configurations have not yet been announced.
