Iveco Bus and Hexagon Agility announced on 28 July an exclusive long-term agreement under which Hexagon Agility will supply complete compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel systems for the entire global Iveco Bus CNG and biomethane transit bus range.

The agreement extends a collaboration between the two companies spanning more than two decades, during which over 10,000 CNG buses have been delivered worldwide, according to Hexagon Agility.

The same supplier announced earlier this year that it will supply CNG fuel systems for 350 intercity buses ordered to TRATON Group brands Scania and MAN for deployment in France.

Exclusive agreement for Iveco Bus CNG fuel systems

Under the agreement, Hexagon Agility will provide complete fuel systems incorporating its Type 4 carbon fiber cylinders across the entire Iveco Bus natural gas-powered transit vehicle portfolio. The supply covers buses operating on both compressed natural gas and biomethane.

Hexagon Agility, a business of Hexagon Composites, supplies compressed natural gas fuel systems for commercial vehicles worldwide.

According to the companies, the agreement builds on an industrial partnership that has already resulted in the deployment of more than 10,000 CNG buses globally.

The agreement applies across the manufacturer’s operations in Europe, Latin America, Asia Pacific, Africa and the Middle East.

Data cited from Transport & Environment (T&E) indicate that CNG and biomethane buses represented 7% of European city bus registrations in 2025, with the share exceeding 20% in France, Greece and Italy. According to Hexagon Agility, adoption of natural gas-powered buses also continues across Latin America, Asia Pacific, Africa and the Middle East.

Eric Bippus, Chief Commercial Officer at Hexagon Agility, said: “Our long-standing collaboration with Iveco Bus has already helped transit operators deploy over 10,000 buses around the world that are reducing emissions and fleet costs right now. Transit agencies are being asked to do more than ever before. They need to reduce emissions, manage costs, improve fuel supply resilience, and deliver reliable service to the communities they serve. To successfully deliver on all of these priorities, we’re now seeing agencies adopting portfolios that combine battery-electric and natural gas-powered buses, matching the right technology to the needs of each route and region.”
