In the coming weeks, Stadtwerke München (SWM) will receive 30 new electric articulated buses of the Mercedes eCitaro G model for Munich’s transport company (MVG), is reported on German trade media omnibus.news. MVG CEO, Ingo Wortmann, highlighted that this expansion will bring the fleet to over 100 electric buses.

The new buses will be stationed at the Moosach e-bus depot. A first tender was awarded to Daimler Buses back in 2020. MVG is also operating Ebusco and MAN electric buses.

The buses are equipped with nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) batteries offering a range of 250 km in real conditions, and up to 350 km under ideal conditions, according to OEM’s statements. They also feature an energy-efficient CO2-based air conditioning system with a heat pump, optimizing winter heating.

Public subsidies cover 67.2% of the costs, provided by Munich’s climate protection program and Bavarian authorities. Additional funding comes from the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport and the EU’s NextGenerationEU program.
