Iveco Bus expected to unveil new battery-electric model in Madrid, FIAA anticipates

Spanish trade show FIAA 2026 will bring together more than 100 exhibitors with a strong focus on new electric buses, propulsion technologies and digital mobility solutions.

From 22 to 24 September, IFEMA Madrid will host the 16th edition of FIAA, the International Bus and Coach Fair. According to organiser FIAA, more than 100 exhibitors will take part in the event, with international participation increasing by 50% compared with the previous edition. The exhibition will feature new vehicles, propulsion systems, digital fleet management solutions, safety technologies and passenger comfort products from bus manufacturers and suppliers.

At FIAA 2026 we will organize a session of our Sustainable Bus Tour 2026, focusing on ““Building zero emission buses through partnerships. Platforms, investments, industrial strategies“, with participation of McKinsey, Arriva Spain, Moventis, Iveco Bus, Otokar, BYD, ZF.

FIAA 2026 anticipates what will be new

Several manufacturers have selected FIAA 2026 for product debuts and premieres.

Iveco Bus will take the opportunity for the “global launch of a new 100% battery-powered electric model, expanding the brand’s range into new, previously unchartered territory“, FIAA states in a press note.

Irizar, as already covered, will introduce the platform for the 15-metre Irizar i3 electric for the first time and will also exhibit the ie tram Efficient, presented for the first time at Mobco in June. The company will also present products from Izir, its circular economy brand based on surplus production materials.

Solaris, marking its 30th anniversary, will display the Urbino 15 LE electric, a three-axle low-entry model intended for intercity operations launched in 2020. Higer Bus will exhibit its G-BOS intelligent fleet operation system.

Marcopolo will present the Paradiso G8 coach, planned for the European market from 2027.

Yutong will showcase its “YUTONG EV Long-life Tech” battery technology, already seen at NME in Milan, alongside the T14E electric coach, the IC12E, U13 and T12 models. TEMSA will display the Avenue Neo electric city bus together with the updated Prestij model.

Indcar will exhibit four minibuses for urban and tourism applications built on Iveco and Mercedes-Benz chassis. Minibuses Iberia will present the Sprinter Verus Plus and Giro models, while StyleBus will display premium VIP conversions based on Mercedes-Benz platforms.

Component manufacturers will introduce new electric propulsion technologies and energy efficiency solutions. Driventic will exhibit the DIWA NXT automatic transmission with 48V mild hybrid technology and the VEDS 1.5 electric drive system (soon to be followed by 2.2 version). ZF will showcase the CeTrax 2 dual central electric drive and the new A134 rear axle designed to increase regenerative braking efficiency.

FIAA adds that “Autosur de Levante will be introducing a new electric traction motor and PRM access ramps. In the specialist components section, Xiamen Jiedeng will be exhibiting a patented intelligent air dehumidification system, designed to electronically remove condensation from tanks and contribute to the safety of the braking system. Wüth Elektronik ICS will be showcasing high-voltage solutions for power distribution in electric buses, a key area for progress towards more efficient and safer vehicles that are equipped to meet the new demands of zero-emission mobility”

Safety technologies will include Winfin’s Vision360 AI blind-spot monitoring system, Arcol’s eMirror Compact digital mirror system and Azimut Electronics‘ autonomous pedestrian warning solution. City Life (EYSaS) will present its EAS monitoring system for the vehicle surroundings, while Masats will introduce the AIDA artificial intelligence system designed to identify passengers requiring boarding assistance.

Eberspächer will introduce the AC135 air-conditioning platform using R290 refrigerant together with its remote monitoring platform. Alintra Systems will present lightweight aluminium interior panels, while Polirros will showcase thermoformed Twin-Sheet interior components.

Digital fleet management will also feature prominently. Cojali will exhibit Jaltest Telematics, Strada will launch the STRADAworld platform, and SINFE will introduce the Localiza Mi Bus passenger information system. Busae, Busmatick Group, Hanover Display, GMV, SENPTEC and Movertis will also present fleet management, ticketing and operations support technologies.

The aftermarket section, FIAA organizers continue, will include Fleequid for used vehicle trading, JMB with automated bus washing systems and Chófer, a platform connecting transport operators with professional drivers.
