ZF has unveiled a new software platform for drivetrain condition monitoring for buses at Bus2Bus 2026 in Berlin.

ZF’s Commercial Vehicle Solutions division is presenting a software-based drivetrain monitoring system as the central element of its technology portfolio for city, intercity and coach buses at Bus2Bus 2026, held in Berlin on 15 and 16 April.

Drivetrain monitoring software integrated with AxTrax 2 LF

The software, shown for the first time at the event, is designed to analyse drivetrain data and is initially available in combination with the AxTrax 2 LF electric portal axle. The system processes operational data generated by the drivetrain and makes it accessible to fleet operators and vehicle manufacturers.

According to ZF, the software enables condition monitoring of the powertrain, including early fault detection and maintenance indications. The system also supports vehicle availability through continuous analysis of drivetrain performance data.

The introduction of this software layer adds a digital component to ZF’s electrified drivetrain portfolio. In the configuration presented in Berlin, the monitoring system is directly linked to the AxTrax 2 LF and focuses on data streams from the electric axle.

CeTrax 2 dual and A134 rear axle on show

Alongside the software debut, ZF is also exhibiting in Berlin the CeTrax 2 dual electric central drive for intercity buses and coaches. The system is specified with continuous output of up to 380 kW and an efficiency of at least 94.5 percent.

The stand also includes the new A134 driven rear axle. The axle has been developed for the higher weight and torque requirements associated with upcoming vehicle platforms in both conventional and electrified applications. ZF states that the A134 combines reduced weight with compatibility with existing installation points.
