ABB E-mobility and Elexon launch integrated charging offering for commercial fleets

ABB E-mobility and Elexon have entered a strategic partnership to provide integrated charging infrastructure services for logistics and commercial vehicle fleets in Germany and Austria.

The two companies announced the collaboration at IAA Transportation 2026 in Hanover, with the joint offering covering charging technology, infrastructure planning and implementation, commissioning, operation, service and long-term support. According to ABB E-mobility and Elexon, an expansion of the partnership into additional European markets is envisaged at a later stage.

The agreement combines ABB E-mobility’s DC fast-charging equipment with Elexon’s activities in charging infrastructure planning, deployment and operation. The companies are presenting the joint offering at IAA Transportation in Hall 13, Booth C11.

ABB E-mobility and Elexon combine charging hardware and depot implementation

Under the partnership, ABB E-mobility will supply high-power DC charging technology for commercial vehicle applications, while Elexon will cover project activities ranging from initial analysis and strategic consulting to technical planning, construction, operation and servicing.

According to information released by the two companies, Elexon has installed more than 38,000 charging points across over 1,200 logistics sites. The company was founded in 2019 and has been wholly owned by VAROPreem since early 2024.

Elexon’s activities also include energy and load management systems and the supply of electricity from renewable energy sources. Within the new cooperation, the company will operate as a certified ABB E-mobility channel partner and is qualified to install, commission and service ABB charging equipment.

ABB E-mobility states that it employs around 1,400 people worldwide and has sold more than 68,000 high-power chargers, covering over 10,000 sites globally. Its portfolio includes charging systems for passenger vehicles as well as infrastructure for electric fleets, buses and trucks.

Partnership initially targets Germany and Austria

The cooperation is initially focused on Germany and Austria and addresses charging infrastructure for logistics companies and operators of commercial vehicle fleets.

According to ABB E-mobility and Elexon, customers will be able to source project analysis, consulting, technical planning, charging equipment, installation, commissioning, operation and after-sales services within the same project framework.

The scope also includes the grid connection and energy management elements of charging infrastructure projects. Elexon will provide local project implementation and service capabilities, while ABB E-mobility will provide the charging technology.

The companies also stated that the collaboration may subsequently be extended to other European markets.
