What’s new at FIAA 2026? Electric buses, coaches and fleet technologies on display

FIAA 2026 will take place at IFEMA Madrid from 22 to 24 September, with more than 100 exhibitors presenting buses, coaches, minibuses, components and digital transport technologies.

The 16th edition of the International Bus and Coach Trade Fair will bring together vehicle manufacturers, component suppliers and service providers, with products covering electrification, digitalisation, safety, fleet management, passenger comfort, maintenance and vehicle lifecycle services. According to FIAA 2026 organizers, international participation has increased by 50% compared with the previous edition.

FIAA 2026 will also host the Sustainable Bus Tour 2026 conference on 23 September, with a session focused on industrial partnerships, platforms, investments and zero-emission bus strategies. The programme includes a McKinsey & Company keynote and a roundtable with representatives from operators, manufacturers and suppliers.

Iveco Bus, Daimler Buses, Irizar and Yutong at FIAA 2026

Iveco Bus will use FIAA 2026 for the global launch of a new battery-electric model, adding another vehicle to its zero-emission range. The manufacturer will also display vehicles for urban and interurban operations, minibuses and coaches, together with solutions covering electromobility, connectivity and services.

Daimler Buses will present vehicles from the Mercedes-Benz and Setra ranges. The exhibits will include the Mercedes eCitaro equipped with a new generation of batteries NMC4 and the eIntouro M, the brand’s first battery-electric interurban bus, featuring over-the-air update capability. Hybrid vehicles and coaches will also be displayed, while Daimler Buses will present its OMNIplus service ecosystem for fleet operations, vehicle availability and digital fleet management. Setra will mark its 75th anniversary with the S 516 HDH.

Irizar will unveil the platform of its new 15-metre electric Irizar i3 and will also exhibit, after the premiere at Mobco in Paris, the ie tram Efficient (which, by the way, is the cover story of our latest Sustainable Bus magazine issue). The Spanish manufacturer will additionally present Izir, its brand dedicated to products made using surplus materials generated by its production processes.

Yutong will present its “YUTONG EV Long-life Tech” technology, with batteries designed for a service life of up to 1.5 million kilometres or 15 years, according to information released by FIAA. The manufacturer will exhibit the T14E electric coach, for which a range of up to 850 kilometres is stated, alongside the IC12E, U13 and T12 models.

Solaris, Temsa, Karsan and Marcopolo bring new vehicles to Madrid

Solaris will mark its 30th anniversary at FIAA with the Urbino 15 LE electric, presented in 2020. The three-axle battery-electric bus uses a Low Entry configuration and is designed for interurban applications.

Temsa will bring the fully electric Avenue Neo urban bus and the redesigned Prestij midibus to Madrid. The vehicles incorporate the manufacturer’s latest vehicle and battery technologies, with Temsa also presenting its in-house battery development activities.

Karsan will display three battery-electric models. The e-Jest is intended for urban operations and accommodates up to 19 passengers, while the e-Atak midibus has capacity for up to 46 passengers. The e-Ata 12 LE is a Class II Low Entry model with space for up to 75 passengers.

Marcopolo will introduce the Paradiso G8 at FIAA, with its European market launch scheduled for 2027.

Indcar, Higer and Farizon expand the FIAA 2026 vehicle line-up

Indcar will exhibit four minibuses for urban and tourist applications, including vehicles based on Iveco and Mercedes-Benz platforms. Its FIAA programme includes the new generation of the Spica, featuring changes to design, passenger comfort, technology, safety and efficiency. According to information released ahead of FIAA 2026, the new generation also reduces vehicle weight by around 3%. Indcar will additionally participate in the fair’s press conference programme.

Higer will display vehicles covering urban, touring, school and corporate transport applications. The company will also present G-BOS, its digital platform for transport operations and fleet management.

Farizon, part of Geely Group, will present the C12E fully electric bus at FIAA 2026 and its electric and connected commercial vehicle portfolio. The company continues its activities in Spain through Automoción y Movilidad Hispania, AMH. Farizon also plans to introduce a new 13-metre Low Entry suburban bus with battery capacity of up to 512 kWh, according to information released for the Madrid exhibition.

Other vehicle manufacturers and companies scheduled to participate include Otokar, Pagliani Service (dealer for Chinese manufacturer Zonson), Isuzu, UNVI, Ferqui, JMB and Zeroid.

Electric drivetrains and components at FIAA 2026

Several suppliers will use FIAA to present technologies for electric and low-emission drivetrains. Driventic will showcase the DIWA NXT automatic transmission featuring 48V mild-hybrid technology and the VEDS 1.5 electric system, with a stated maximum output of 390 kW.

ZF will present the CeTrax 2 dual central electric drive, integrated into a one-box solution for city buses and coaches, alongside the next-generation A134 rear axle. Autosur de Levante will introduce an electric traction motor and PRM access ramps, while Würth Elektronik ICS will exhibit high-voltage power-distribution solutions for electric buses. Xiamen Jiedeng will present a patented intelligent air-dehumidification system designed to electronically remove condensation from tanks.

ADAS, fleet management and ticketing technologies in Madrid

Safety and driver-assistance suppliers will include Winfin with its Vision360 AI intelligent vision system for monitoring blind spots, Arcol with the eMirror Compact camera-based system replacing conventional mirrors on minibuses, and Azimut Electronics with an autonomous anti-collision pedestrian alert system for blind junctions. City Life, EYSaS, will introduce the EAS system for monitoring areas in front of and alongside stationary buses, while Masats will present AIDA, an AI-based vision system designed to detect whether passengers require assistance when boarding.

Fleet digitalisation will be represented by a broader group of technology providers. Cojali will present Jaltest Telematics with multi-brand remote diagnostics and its Real Time Ecodriving module, while Strada will unveil the STRADAworld platform for tachograph monitoring and geolocation. SINFE will launch Localiza Mi Bus for real-time passenger vehicle tracking. Busae will display its ITS platform, Volcano will show software adapted to Spain’s Electronic Administrative Control Document, DeCA, and Busmatick Group will exhibit the modular ModuLite ticketing and validation architecture. Hanover Display will present CANBus-compatible EG4 consoles and Hanover Cloud, while GMV will exhibit its latest Operations Support Systems and ticketing developments, including ABT and EMV technologies, its ITS Suite and on-board devices. SENPTEC will present its Digital Driver’s Workplace with biometric adjustment functions, and Movertis will introduce virtual assistants and AI-based dashboards for fleet monitoring.

HVAC, interiors, maintenance and vehicle lifecycle services

Passenger-comfort and interior suppliers will also present new products at FIAA. Eberspächer will showcase the AC135 air-conditioning platform using propane, R290, as refrigerant, together with its e-connected remote-monitoring platform. Alintra Systems will showcase lightweight acoustic panels using larcore aluminium technology and removable ceiling systems, while Polirros will present Twin-Sheet thermoformed components developed to reduce weight. Minibuses Iberia will display the Sprinter Verus Plus and Giro, while StyleBus will exhibit solutions for VIP applications based on Mercedes-Benz platforms.

Maintenance and vehicle lifecycle services will form another part of the exhibition. Fleequid will present its used commercial vehicle marketplace together with TrustReport inspections and mechanical warranty products. JMB will introduce a new generation of vehicle cleaning systems, including the battery-powered DRIVE BATT WASH single-brush machine, which FIAA organizers state can wash a bus in two minutes. The Chófer platform will also be represented with its digital service connecting transport companies with available professional drivers.
