250 Yutong electric buses are going to be deployed in Athens and Thessaloniki. Investment? €110.8 millions. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in early 2024.

And another tender for 400 e-buses is on its way to be issued, that will be followed by “a second procurement phase for an additional 650 buses”, as told by Greek Infrastructure & Transport Minister Christos Staikouras to Greek media.

Electric buses for Athens, by Yutong

Yutong is represented in Greece by the dealer Kopelouzou group. The green light for the purchase has been just given by the Sixth Level of the Audit Court, as Greekcitytimes reports.

The local media adds that “It should be noted that the competition had started in 2021 and due to the large number of vehicles it had been divided into five divisions. The first part of the tender was declared barren as no bid was submitted, and it concerned the supply of 120 hybrid 12-metre buses, EURO VI category”.
