Iveco Bus announces it has received orders for H2 city buses by the Urban Community of Dunkirk and Grand Annecy Agglomeration, through UGAP, first public purchasing center in France.

The Urban Community of Dunkirk has ordered 10 units, while Grand Annecy Agglomeration has chosen to acquire 3 units. These hydrogen buses will complement the existing fleets of electric buses from the brand in both networks. Deliveries will be staggered until 2026, Iveco Bus says.

Oddly enough, Safra has won in 2023 a fuel cell order, also for 10 units, in Dunkirk, but the company then faced serious challenges and was placed in receivership in early 2025. It’s unclear wether the order of 10 Iveco Bus units is in addition to the one with Safra or rather it replaces the previous procurement.

Iveco Bus fuel cell buses ordered through UGAP

Combining a 100 kW Hyundai fuel cell module coupled with a 69 kWh FPT Industrial battery pack, the Iveco Bus H2 solution (marketed as E-Way H2 in Europe outside France and Heuliex Bus GX 337 H2 in the domestic market) is particularly efficient in terms of reducing hydrogen consumption (15 to 20% lower than usual levels according to the group’s figures). The bus model, 12-meter long, features passenger capacity of up to 110 passengers

Giorgio Zino, Head of Iveco Bus Europe Commercial Operations, stated: “We are extremely proud that the Urban Community of Dunkirk and Grand Annecy Agglomeration have renewed their trust by adopting our hydrogen buses. These new orders, via UGAP, highlight our ability to support our customers in their transition to zero emissions.”
