EKA Mobility has launched the new EKA 9M Electric School Bus at Prawaas 5.0 exhibition, expanding its electric commercial vehicle portfolio with a purpose-built model for student transportation. Last year, at the same show, the company launched the EKA 9 9-meter electric city bus. Earlier this year, in March 2026, EKA was awarded 915 e-buses in Hyderabad.

EKA Mobility, operating under Pinnacle Mobility Solutions Pvt. Ltd., ranked fifth in India’s electric bus market during the first half of 2026. According to Vahan Dashboard registration data, the company registered 171 electric buses between January and June, corresponding to a 5.8% market share in a market that reached 2,944 registrations, up 40% year-on-year. In the whole 2025 EKA delivered 310 e-buses.

EKA Mobility unveils 9-metre electric school bus

EKA Mobility introduced its new EKA 9M Electric School Bus during Prawaas 5.0 in Gandhinagar on 9 July. The vehicle has been developed specifically for school transportation and broadens the company’s range of battery-electric commercial vehicles.

Built on the company’s lightweight monocoque platform, the EKA 9M Electric School Bus features a high-strength steel structure and is designed to accommodate up to 43 passengers plus the driver. According to EKA Mobility, the vehicle complies with AIS 052 standards for school buses.

The company stated that the bus is equipped with an Electronic Braking System (EBS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and air suspension. These systems are intended to support vehicle stability, passenger comfort and safety during school transport operations.

The EKA 9M Electric School Bus will be offered with two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery configurations, providing capacities of 100 kWh and 200 kWh. EKA Mobility states that the bus delivers a driving range of up to 180 km on a single charge.

The vehicle supports CCS2 fast charging, with the manufacturer indicating that a full recharge can be completed in less than one hour and 45 minutes.

Alongside the new school bus, EKA Mobility displayed its broader electric mobility portfolio at Prawaas 5.0, including the EKA Coach, the EKA 12M Low Entry Electric Bus, the EKA 3S and the EKA 6S. According to the company, these products cover applications including city transit, institutional transport and last-mile passenger mobility.
