The November 2026 issue of Sustainable Bus Magazine is out, with print distribution scheduled at Euro Bus Expo, at the 9th International IMC Trolleybus & eBRT2030 Conference organised by trolley:motion and UITP in Lyon on 11–13 November and finally at at IBE Intermobility and Bus Expo in Rimini on 24–26 November.
Under the cover title “The American Dream”, the new edition features reporting from APTA EXPO in Chicago and a technical presentation of the Solaris Urbino 40 electric. Alongside the North American coverage, the magazine examines European electric bus registrations, autonomous operations in Austria, charging infrastructure and new vehicles from Yutong, Volvo Buses and Iveco Bus.
APTA Expo, Solaris’ North American electric bus, autonomous buses
As just mentioned, the US market takes centre stage through our reporting from APTA EXPO 2026, covering the arrival of new manufacturers and products, electrification and the industrial requirements associated with Buy America compliance.
A dedicated technical feature presents the Solaris Urbino 40 electric, examining the vehicle’s adaptation to North American specifications, passenger layout, electric driveline and the company’s manufacturing and service plans.
The Outlooks section includes an on-site report from Alpbach, Austria, where ÖBB Postbus operated an Otokar e-Centro equipped with a Level 4 autonomous driving system during the European Forum Alpbach.
The feature explores the pilot’s preparation and operation on a 900-metre route through the village, including narrow roads, pedestrian traffic and gradients of up to 21%. We made a video reporting about it.
The issue also reviews European electric bus registrations in the first half of 2026 and presents the Sustainable Bus Awards 2027 winners: Solaris, BYD and Irizar-Scania.
Yutong U18 BRT, Volvo electric coach and Iveco eFlexy
The vehicle section features the Yutong U18 BRT, presented during the opening of the manufacturer’s service centre in Stokke, Norway. Electric coach developments are covered through the Volvo BZR Electric–CD, combining Volvo’s electric platform with Carrus Delta bodywork and offering battery capacity of up to 720 kWh.
The section also introduces the Iveco Bus eFlexy launched in September at FIAA Madrid, examining its platform, bodywork partnership and applications, including demand-responsive transport.
The issue closes with a portfolio of zero-emission buses available on the European market.
