The 11th edition of Busworld Turkey is underway in Istanbul from 17 to 19 June, bringing together 161 exhibitors across 11,358 square metres of exhibition space, a 15% increase compared with the previous edition. Following the 2024 event, which attracted 12,366 professional visitors from 96 countries, this year’s exhibition features broader international participation while maintaining a strong presence of domestic manufacturers and suppliers.

The event takes place at a time when Turkey is strengthening its position as one of Europe’s leading bus manufacturing centres. According to figures from the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), bus production reached 12,425 units in 2025, up 25% compared with the previous year, while combined output of buses, midibuses and minibuses exceeded 121,000 vehicles. Production growth has continued into 2026, with bus manufacturing increasing by 19.3% in the first four months of the year.

Turkey continues to play a strategic role in the global bus and coach industry as both a major domestic market and a manufacturing hub serving Europe, the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia. Busworld Turkey therefore provides a snapshot not only of local developments but also of technologies and products targeting a wide range of export markets.

While battery-electric buses account for a significant share of the vehicles on display, some of the most distinctive exhibits at Busworld Turkey 2026 come from less widespread technologies.

HABAŞ is exhibiting the only hydrogen fuel cell bus present at the event with the Comfort City H2. Autonomous driving technology is represented by Otokar’s Autonomous e-CENTRO and the Karsan’s Autonomous e-ATAK, at the moment the only Level 4 bus operating in Europe. Bozankaya’s Lamis 12T trolleybus adds another form of electric mobility to the exhibition.

Busworld Turkey 2026 reflects a multi-technology market

One of the defining characteristics of Busworld Turkey 2026 is the coexistence of multiple propulsion technologies. Battery-electric buses account for many of the newest vehicles on display, while diesel and compressed natural gas remain widely represented across urban, intercity and coach segments.

The exhibition also features technologies that remain less common in the Turkish market, including hydrogen fuel cell propulsion, trolleybus systems and autonomous driving. Several manufacturers are using the event to demonstrate capabilities across different technologies rather than focusing on a single pathway.

Anadolu Isuzu

Anadolu Isuzu is exhibiting four vehicles at Busworld Turkey 2026. The lineup includes the battery-electric Novociti Volt alongside three diesel-powered models: the Citiport 12, the Grand Toro XL and the Novo Lux.

BMC

BMC has placed its Procity family at the centre of its stand. All four variants of the platform are on display in Istanbul, including the battery-electric Procity+ 12M and articulated Procity+ 18M.

Completing the lineup are the Procity CNG and the conventional diesel-powered Procity. The display illustrates how manufacturers continue to offer several propulsion technologies within the same vehicle family to address different operational requirements.

Bozankaya

Bozankaya is showcasing its Lamis 12T trolleybus together with a 240 kW DC fast charger.

The 12-metre low-floor vehicle accommodates up to 80 passengers and offers battery-assisted operation for distances of up to 35 kilometres away from overhead infrastructure. The model is already operating in Prague.

Alongside the vehicle, the manufacturer is presenting a dual-output charging system supporting CCS2 standards and remote monitoring functions.

Cummins

Among component suppliers, Cummins is using Busworld Turkey to highlight its hydrogen strategy through the B6.7H hydrogen internal combustion engine. The powertrain is designed to deliver performance characteristics comparable to conventional diesel engines while operating on hydrogen fuel, adding another technology pathway to the decarbonization solutions showcased across the exhibition. The engine is set for testing with Anadolu Isuzu on the bus model Kendo.

In an interview with Sustainable Bus published following Busworld Europe 2025, Cenk Yavuz, Director of Europe Bus Business at Cummins, stated that the 6.7-litre engine delivers 290 hp and 1,200 Nm of torque and is already undergoing field testing. He added that “The hydrogen refuelling infrastructure in Europe is still limited, and the investment cost remains high — this is a challenge for both fuel cell and hydrogen ICE technologies. For now, we expect hydrogen combustion to remain a niche market, but it could serve specific applications. We keep monitoring the market closely because it’s evolving rapidly, and we do see potential emerging in certain regions”,

HABAŞ

Among the newest manufacturers participating in Busworld Turkey is HABAŞ. The company’s bus division, HBS, was established in 2021 following a strategic decision by the HABAŞ Group, active in steel production, industrial gases and energy. The firm has already taken part to Busworld in Brussels back in 2023.

At the exhibition, HBS is presenting four vehicles: the 12-metre Comfort City-e, the Alfa City-e electric midibus, the Comfort City diesel and the hydrogen-powered Comfort City H2.

The latter is the only fuel cell electric bus displayed at Busworld Turkey 2026, making HABAŞ the sole manufacturer exhibiting hydrogen bus technology at the event.

Iveco Bus

IVECO Bus is using Busworld Turkey to introduce several vehicles to the Turkish market while reinforcing its presence across Turkey and Central Asia.

The main novelty is the Crossway Low Entry Elec, displayed in Turkey for the first time. The battery-electric model is shown as a 13-metre Class I version equipped with five battery packs and configured for overnight charging.

Also making their Turkish debut are the Crossway Low Entry and the G-Way midibus. The display is completed by the Evadys coach.

Beyond the vehicles on display, Iveco Bus is highlighting its industrial activities in the region. Turkey remains an important market for the Daily platform, while the manufacturer recently launched CKD assembly of Daily minibuses in Uzbekistan through a partnership with Asaka Motors International.

During Busworld Turkey, Iveco Bus and its Turkish dealer FSM Demirbaş Otomotiv signed an agreement for the supply of 20 articulated Streetway buses. The 18-metre low-floor vehicles, produced in Turkey and able to accommodate up to 140 passengers, will add to a local fleet that already includes nearly 80 Iveco Bus vehicles operating in cities such as Istanbul, Ankara, Kocaeli, Muğla and Kayseri.

Karsan

Karsan is the only Turkish manufacturer focusing entirely on battery-electric mobility. The company is showcasing three vehicles from its e-ATA family.

The manufacturer is displaying the Autonomous e-ATAK, the 12-metre e-ATA equipped with pantograph charging technology and the articulated e-ATA 18.

During Busworld Turkey, the company reported that 149 electric buses are currently operating in Turkey, including 69 vehicles delivered during 2025. According to figures presented by the manufacturer, all electric buses registered in the Turkish market during 2025 were Karsan vehicles.

Otokar

Otokar is exhibiting five buses covering electric, autonomous and conventional applications.

The stand includes the updated e-KENT, the battery-electric e-TERRITO and the autonomous e-CENTRO, together with the CENTRO and Sultan Comfort models.

The e-TERRITO was recently launched for intercity and regional operations in Turkey and is available in 11-, 12- and 13-metre versions. The autonomous e-CENTRO features Level 4 autonomous driving capability and has already been operating in passenger service at Mercamadrid in Madrid.

Otokar also used Busworld Turkey to present an overview of its activities, reporting more than 66,500 buses in operation worldwide and projected turnover of USD 1.2 billion for 2025.
